Mont Vernon is the quiet country town that lies just North of Amherst and shares Amherst schools. We recommend you take a ride and come see this exceptional new community...you will be glad you did.
Welcome to Mont Vernon’s newest 28 home community of custom built homes by Northview Homes & Development. Plan your new home now or purchase a lot for later use...
This new home community has been worth the wait! By North View Homes & Development, a Merrimack NH builder and developer, over 100 acres have been preserved by donation to conservation along
the Purgatory Brook; we also abut Town Forest to the North. This
beautiful and rare parcel of land has been carefully planned to
preserve the natural resources of the area. Enjoy a leisurely walk
along Purgatory Brook, hike the Town Forest or visit the nearby Lower
Purgatory Falls or just North to the Upper Purgatory Falls.
In Spring 2008, the residents of Mont Vernon voted to protect the Wah Lum Reserve property.
Voters overwhelmingly supported the article on the warrant that
successfully allowed the town to purchase 248 acres in the Purgatory
Road Watershed, also known as the Wah Lum Reserve. The watershed runs
along the Mont Vernon and Lyndeborough border into Milford. Mont Vernon
currently owns much of the land in this conservation area within the
town. With the purchase of this property, a contiguous span of roughly
500 acres of protected land will be created in Mont Vernon.
“Purgatory” is a natural curiousity, a deep ravine more than a half a
mile in length, through which the Black Brook flows. At the Upper
Falls, the brook plunges more than fifty feet in a deep chasm or pit;
there is also a rather interesting “footprint” in the rock at the top.
Follow the brook and this stream makes twists and turns to arrive at
the “Lower Falls.” Bring a lunch and have a fine picnic along the
brook. In 1885, 300 people attended the annual “Purgatory Picnic” at
the Lower Falls.
Wildlife abounds on this peaceful country refuge with delightful stone
walls and beautiful forests. We have lots of varying size; whether you
are looking for an estate lot, lots with views, pond or privacy; we
even have a couple of lots that will accommodate horses.
Located in the Southwest corner of Mont Vernon, just minutes to Route
101, shopping and an easy commuting location. Just minutes to the
Milford oval and Amherst, enjoy the country life with immediate access
to all of thearea’s conveniences.
Mont Vernon is bounded by New Boston on the North, Amherst on the East,

Mont Vernon shares the award winning Amherst Middle School and the
sought after Souhegan High School which are just a short bus ride away

Purgatory
Brook is a 5.8 mile (9.3 km) long tributary of the Souhegan River in
southern New Hampshire. It rises in a marshy area on the border of
Lyndeborough and Mont Vernon, and flows south over three small
waterfalls, intersecting the Souhegan in Milford. For much of its
length, it constitutes the border between Lyndeborough and Mont Vernon.
