Amherst New Hampshire is a
bedroom community of about 12,000 residents located in Southern NH,
just
minutes to Nashua NH and the Massachusetts Border. Many residents in Amherst
commute to Massachusetts; Amherst is conveniently located less than an hour
from Boston (with good traffic). Amherst lies to the West of Nashua, NH, South
of Manchester and Bedford and East of Milford. There is easy access to Route 3
which is the main North-South commuting corridor.
Amherst is a quiet community, with most of its retail and businesses located
off of Route 101A. Recent growth in the retail sector has been brisk with a
super Walmart, Lowes, Circuit City, Staples, Super Stop and Shop and many more
opening their doors in Amherst. We have access to two large malls, Pheasant
Lane Mall in Nashua and The Manchester Mall, the Verizon Center, a symphony, as
well as a wealth of specialty shops in the area. The Manchester Airport has been expanded and is a short ride from Amherst.
Once you turn off the busy Route 101A corridor, you quickly arrive in a country
atmosphere of handsome and well kept homes. Amherst town ordinances call for
larger home lots so it is common for Amherst, NH homes to have larger lots of 2
to 5 acres. The Amherst Village is unique in that the entire village is on the National
Historic Register. Many annual activities take place in Amherst Village
including an Easter Egg hunt, the famous 4th of July parade that attracts many
politicians (very common to have Presidential and Senate candidates in
attendance), Halloween trick or treating where the Village is an exciting place
to go and of course the annual Christmas celebration including live Nativity at
the Amherst Congregational Church.
Hampshire
Hills is a wonderful sports and fitness complex serving Amherst, Milford and
area towns. It is considered one of the
most complete fitness and recreational facilities in the area.
The
facility provides swimming, rock climbing, tennis and racquetball, aquatics,
sports camps, pilates and joga, fitness and training and much more. Most recently they added the Hampshire Dome. The
Hampshire Dome offers the best indoor sports complex in New England. The Dome
is a 94,000 thousand plus square foot arena covered by an air supported roof.
Amherst is a wonderful place to live and raise a family; the schools are highly
sought after with the award winning Amherst Middle School and well known
Souhegan High School.
