Winter Sledding In Amherst NH |
|
|
|
Amherst
NH residents always enjoy a good day of sledding and what better place than
Bragdon Hill.
Bragdon Hill and Bragdon Farm is part of
a town owned conservation area that belonged to the family of state Sen. Peter
Bragdon, R-Milford, for four generations. The town of Amherst purchased the
land in 1995.
Bragdon Hill is located on Route 101
heading towards Bedford.
At
one time,The Amherst/Bedford ski area operated at the former Bragdon Farm in
Amherst, NH from 1936 in the early 1970's. The Bragdon Family operated the
area. Several nearby schools trained at the hill, which also had night skiing.
This was located across the road from the current sledding hill.
There is nice off road parking area
with a tunnel that goes under Route 101 to access the sledding hill. The
underground tunnel was originally built so the cows could access the field
across from the farm without having to cross the road.
Children and adults alike enjoy the large hill
and you will see sleds, skis, snowboards, plastic sleds and inflatable tubes
soaring down the hill and hear squeals of delight.
Another one of the reasons we love living in our
Amherst NH homes.
